(1) Debtor = Debtor - Bad Debt = 13400 - 650 = 12750 Provision for Doubtful Debt = 12750 x 4% = 510 Existing Provision = 730 , Hence over provided by 730 - 510 = 220 (Cr to P&L) Bad Debt to provide = 650 (Dr to P&L) Bad Debt recovered = 420 (Cr to P&L) Net P&L effect = 220 Cr + 650 Dr + 420 Cr = 10 Dr (2) Debtor for General Provision = Debtor - Unconfirmed Sales - Bad Debt - Specific Provision = 19800 - 4000 - 1700 - 3100 = 11000 General Provision for Doubtful Debt = 11000 x 5% = 550 Existing Provision = 800, Hence over provided by 800 - 550 = 250 (Cr to P&L) P&L Provision for Doubtful Debt = Specific Provision + Net General Provision = 3100 Dr + 250 Cr = 2850 Dr
