Structured products are a kind of derivative that have a underlying assets e.g. stock or foreign exchange. This kind of product can reduce or diversify risk and enhance returns. For example, there is a famous structured product in banks known as EQUITY-LINKED DEPOSIT. The underlying mechanism is that if before maturity (for example: 3-month), the underlying stock does not fall below the strike price, you will get back HKD deposit plus higher interest. However, if at maturity the stock price is lower than the strike price, we can not get back the HKD, instead, you receive the underlying stock.
